Mary Davies appointed as Board Director

OAKVILLE, Ontario (November 19, 2014) – The Public Appointments Secretariat of the Province of Ontario issued an official Order-in-Council appointing Mary Davies to the Mississauga Halton Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) Board of Directors in April 2014 for a three-year term. 

Mary Davies, a Milton resident, has had a variety of work experiences in the health care field including the establishment of her own health and social services consulting practice, which focused on assisting agencies and associations to strive for excellence through continuous quality improvement initiatives. 

Ms. Davies has conducted quality workshops and facilitated the development of standards and indicators/performance measures for a variety of organizations including Ontario Community Support Association and Hospice Association of Ontario. Mary is a certified professional coach (Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching - iPEC).

For eleven years, Mary served on the Board of Directors of Halton Healthcare Services including the role of Chair.  Mary received her Master of Science in Nursing (specializing in Community Health Nursing) and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Toronto.  She is a member of the College of Nurses of Ontario.

Mary, and her husband Anton, enjoy living in Milton and spending time with their grandchildren.

Board of Directors

  • The role of the LHIN Board of Directors is to oversee, advise on and govern the strategic direction and priorities of the LHIN. Each board member is appointed by an Order-in-Council – the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care’s selection and appointment process – and is appointed for a term of one to three years, subject to two terms up to a six-year maximum.

  • The Chair and the Directors are appointed based on their expertise, experience, leadership skills and the needs of the LHIN and are accountable, through the Chair, to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care for the LHIN’s use of public funds and for its results in the local health system.

  • Currently, the Board of Directors is comprised of: Graeme Goebelle - Chair (Halton Hills), Ronald Haines - Vice Chair (Mississauga), Jackie Conant - Member (Etobicoke), Shelagh Maloney - Member (Mississauga), Kim Piller - Member (Mississauga), Patrick Hop Hing – Member (Mississauga) and newly appointed Mary Davies – Member (Milton).

Mississauga Halton Local Health Integration Network

The Mississauga Halton LHIN brings together local providers from hospitals, community care, community mental health and addictions, and community support services agencies to develop innovative, collaborative solutions to improve access and enhance the experience of patients and clients. The Mississauga Halton LHIN has a clear, achievable regional plan to improve our local health care that reflects the needs of our local community and the realities of the local service environment. The Mississauga Halton LHIN is responsible for planning, coordinating and funding ($1.3 billion) 76 health service providers who deliver programs and services to the over 1.1 million people living in the Mississauga Halton LHIN communities of Oakville, Milton, Halton Hills, Mississauga and South Etobicoke.
