Mississauga Halton LHIN Welcomes Newest Board Member

Patrick Hop Hing appointed as Board Director

 

OAKVILLE, Ontario (April 16, 2014) – The Public Appointments Secretariat of the Province of Ontario issued an official Order-in-Council appointing Patrick Hop Hing to the Mississauga Halton Local Health Integration Network (LHIN) Board of Directors on February 12, 2014 for a two-year term.Patrick Hop Hing

Patrick Hop Hing, a Mississauga resident, has been very involved in his community, serving on a number of Boards and Committees including:

  • Member - Mississauga Hospital
  • Member – Trillium Health Centre
  • Chair – Building and Facilities Committee – Trillium Health Centre
  • Member – Finance and Audit – Trillium Health Centre
  • Member - Governance and Resources Committees 

Mr. Hop Hing, CPA, CA is Director, Corporate Services and Treasurer at Dairy Farmers of Ontario (DFO), the marketing board for the largest agricultural sector in Ontario.  Prior to joining DFO, Patrick held the positions of Chief Financial Officer at the Toronto Board of Trade and Director, Corporate Services at the College of Nurses of Ontario. 

Patrick qualified as a Chartered Accountant in South Africa and worked in London, England prior to being transferred to PricewaterhouseCoopers in Mississauga. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant and also obtained his CPA designation through Massachusetts, USA.

Patrick, his wife Karen and two daughters Megan and Lauren live in Mississauga.

Board of Directors

  • The role of the LHIN Board of Directors is to oversee, advise on and govern the strategic direction and priorities of the LHIN. Each board member is appointed by an Order-in-Council – the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care’s selection and appointment process – and is appointed for a term of one to three years, subject to two terms up to a six-year maximum.
  • The Chair and the Directors are appointed based on their expertise, experience, leadership skills and the needs of the LHIN and are accountable, through the Chair, to the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care for the LHIN’s use of public funds and for its results in the local health system.
  • Currently, the Board of Directors is comprised of: Graeme Goebelle - Chair (Halton Hills), Ronald Haines - Vice Chair (Mississauga), Jackie Conant - Member (Etobicoke), Shelagh Maloney - Member (Mississauga), Kim Piller - Member (Mississauga), Jason Wadden - Member (Oakville), and newly appointed Patrick Hop Hing – Member (Mississauga).

 

Mississauga Halton Local Health Integration Network

The Mississauga Halton LHIN brings together local providers from hospitals, community care, community mental health and addictions, and community support services agencies to develop innovative, collaborative solutions to improve access and enhance the experience of patients and clients. The Mississauga Halton LHIN has a clear, achievable regional plan to improve our local health care that reflects the needs of our local community and the realities of the local service environment. The Mississauga Halton LHIN is responsible for planning, coordinating and funding ($1.3 billion) 76 health service providers who deliver programs and services to the over 1.1 million people living in the Mississauga Halton LHIN communities of Oakville, Milton, Halton Hills, Mississauga and South Etobicoke.
