2017 Health Equity Symposium

On March 24, 2017, the Mississauga Halton LHIN hosted its fourth annual Health Equity Symposium. The overarching goal of the event was to highlight the socio-demographic data collection journey of Focused Implementation Sites in the Mississauga Halton region. Some other objectives included:

  • Facilitating the continuation of health equity work undertaken to date
  • Illustrating how socio-demographic data can be used for enhancing service quality as well as organizational and system-level change
  • Building interconnections between health equity and the social determinants of health

Learning Videos from the 2017 Symposium

Throughout the month of March 2017, filming for three short informational videos was done under the guidance of the Mississauga Halton LHIN and the project consultants from Sustainable Societies Consulting Group. The purpose of these videos were twofold: (1) the videos would be shown at the end-of-project symposium as a way of celebrating project successes and helping to pull together many of the different strands of the project that have been underway over the past several years, and (2) the videos will serve as a knowledge transfer tool – providing an introductory overview of the health equity data collection project for organizations wishing to join the project, other LHINs or umbrella organizations wishing to create a similar project model, and may be used as a resource for future trainings, conference presentations, or other methods of knowledge transfer.
