Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Adoption
OntarioMD manages a program funded by eHealth Ontario that provides assistance to physicians in the adoption and implementation of funding eligible Electronic Medical Record (EMR) offerings. The program is designed to help transform community-based physician practices to a primarily paperless environment – enabling electronic capture, management, and sharing of personal health information across the continuum of care – as such, the EMR Adoption Program was launched to increase the number of Ontario physicians using eligible EMR offerings.
The Program consists of four components: a subsidy program, change management services, EMR specification management and the OntarioMD physician portal.

EMR adoption rate
As of June 30, 2014, the EMR adoption rate for the Mississauga Halton LHIN was 79%. This is 5% higher than the Provincial average. Possible adoption momentum may be reflected in future quarters now that Halton Healthcare Services has implemented Hospital Report Manager (HRM) which will enable physician EMRs to receive hospital discharge reports for their patients directly into their electronic patient record.
