French Language Services
In collaboration with the French Language Health Services (FLHS) Office of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, the Mississauga Halton LHIN aims to improve the health status of francophones. This will be achieved by developing mechanisms to ensure the integration of French language services (FLS) in the local health care system, resulting in an increase in the availability of services in French and improving access to those services in accordance with the French Language Services Act (FLSA).
Quick Guide to French Language Services
The health services providers, listed in this guide, are those identified or designated for French services as well as those programs and services that have been funded to develop services in French in the geographical areas of three neighbouring LHINs (Mississauga Halton, Toronto Central and Central West).
Joint Annual Action Plan between Reflet Salvéo, Central West LHIN, Mississauga Halton LHIN and Toronto Central LHIN
The needs of the Francophone community continue to be a priority for the Mississauga Halton LHIN and are taken into account in our annual planning. In an effort to better understand and meet the needs of our Francophone community, the Mississauga Halton LHIN continues its partnership with the Toronto Central LHIN, Central West LHIN and the French Language Health Planning Entity #3, Reflet Salvéo. Reflet Salvéo has been a key partner in engaging the Francophone community in all three LHINs. In 2014, Reflet Salvéo produced a number of reports highlighting their community engagement findings. These reports provide valuable information for the LHINs and help identify where the needs and gaps in health care service delivery for our Francophone population occur.
The French Language Health Planning Entity (Reflet Salvéo) and the Central West, Mississauga Halton and Toronto Central LHINs work together every year to create a Joint Annual Action Plan (JAAP). This plan takes into account each organization’s strategic plan and gives direction to the joint work to be undertaken during the upcoming fiscal year. As this important document is now developed, we are glad to share it with our community.
