Aging at Home Strategy: Background

On August 28th, 2007 the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care announced an investment of $702 million over three years for an Aging at Home Strategy.  This Strategy is aimed at providing seniors and their families and caregivers with an integrated continuum of community-based services to enable them to stay healthy and live more independently in their homes.  Please click on the links below to learn more about the Aging at Home Strategy both provincially and locally.

As a part of the Strategy, the Mississauga Halton LHIN received $60 million and will lead an exciting initiative that will impact the way services are delivered and help provide more equitable access to health care by matching the needs of the local senior population with the appropriate support services.

The Strategy aims to keep seniors healthy by providing a comprehensive mix of services for seniors and their caregivers through traditional services combined with innovative practices.   The new funding is targeted towards increasing the overall supply (mix and quantity) of services (e.g. capacity building) and leveraging change through innovation.
